Well, that’s a wrap! Thanks to the thousands of organizers from all over the country who came to Baltimore to debrief the midterm elections, talk about power, and learn from each other.

On Friday, there were caucus gatherings and meetups where folks made new friends, had conversations about their communities, and talked about ways to build across lines of difference.

Our staff was also busy putting together the Board, the physical schedule that the attendees create:

We kicked off the day by talking about re:power and what our new name and brand identity means for our people:

re: economic justice

In the afternoon, we heard from Sayu Bhojwani from New American Leaders about immigrant community members running for office, what actually happens after they get in, and the economic and financial cost of public life:

re: governance

Then we closed the day with a discussion about organizing >> getting elected into office with local leaders from Maryland:

On Sunday, the creative sessions continued:

re: grassroots technologists

We heard about digital security best practices for the movement from Selina Musuta, Ford/Mozilla Foundation fellow:

(Tip: Be like Rihanna. Own your power like Cardi B.)

re: inclusive politics

A packed crowd for Rep. Ilhan Omar, who talked about what power is, who should have it, and how we should wield it:

We closed out the day with a beautiful reminder from thought leader and activist Deepa Iyer about solidarity in the movement, and what it looks like to actually build solidarity practices in your organizational plan and personal life:

Thanks to everyone who came to Rootscamp, organized sessions, volunteered, and helped us make this unconference happen — you’re the reason Rootscamp is a success, and we’re grateful for you.

Happy travels!
